Read the customer reviews for the product. That should help you in making up your mind.
Hey, I had the same issue as you Sophomore year. I thought it was a network issue as well, but it turned out to be my wireless card. Do you happen to have this card or a similar one? There seems to be something up with certain cards on the UMass networks, since I had issues with that card, and two other wireless USB adapters, but I found this adapter works well on campus.
Who knows why this is happening, but the only solution I've found in 2.5 years is just to get an adapter you know doesn't have the issue.
I would use this adapter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054YQO5C? and switch to this psu https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0106RDIN2/ it didn't show the price correctly when I was looking for it. Edit not the g2 get the Gs or gq. My phone won't link them correctly.
I think I know what you're asking. Since I wasn't able to plug a cord into my PC for internet, I had to buy a wireless adapter. I use this and it works pretty well for me. I live in a one bedroom apartment though
That sounds like a whole nother problem... Dual Band Adapter, 90% sure this will fix all your problems (for future reference) $12 refurbished.
Ah, that sucks.
I know UMass has a really solid CS program so IMO don't transfer out just because the WiFi for your first year is shitty, I'm pretty sure it gets better (at least it did in my case). Been on eduroam like 95% of the time I've been here and only had a minor lag-spike once.
I definitely agree they should add ethernet ports back though, but I remember reading up that it would be really difficult for one reason or another.
(Also I got recommended this adapter and its been working pretty well: link)
