If you'd like a wireless option check out the Logitech F540:

Been using these for a couple years now and it's the best headset I've ever owned. Crystal clear sound, mic is flawless, ~8 hours on a battery with micro USB to charge, wireless range covers my entire house.

I use Logitech F540s. I wanted a wireless headset when I bought them since I sit like 3-4 feet away from my TV and got tired of having a long cable in the way. They work well enough, but I think I'm gonna get a pair of SteelSeries Siberias the next time I need a headset, but that probably won't be for years.

Logitech F540. This headset is discontinued, but has what to me is one of the most important features in a gaming headset: multiple audio inputs. In the case of this headset there's analogue (headphone jack) and USB. This allows you to individually adjust the volume levels of game sounds and TeamSpeak. This is huge in games like DayZ mod where you're talking to multiple friends and jump in a helicopter and all of a sudden the game noise is really loud; or your friends are talking and all of a sudden you hear footsteps or somebody opening a can of soda in-game and you need to turn down TeamSpeak to pinpoint the game sounds. Also, if you record it allows you to use DXTORY or Audacity to record game sounds, your mic, and your TeamSpeak friends on 3 separate channels. Any headset that is advertised for the PS3 has this capability and will most likely work on your PC because PS3 uses USB for voice chat. Other headsets like Astro A40s use the same principle though the Astros have digital optical and USB as the two inputs (I believe analogue is an option as well). My headset has two volume knobs, one for voice and one for game. The Astros come with a mix amp that you can use to adjust the balance between game and voice.
