Didn't really care for Benvenuto's memoir personally, here's the review I wrote a couple years back: https://travelstogethen.wordpress.com/2017/07/13/sex-changes-a-memoir-christine-benvenuto/

Wandering around a bit on Amazon, I am reminded that I follow Amanda Jette Knox on Twitter and she has a memoir that might also be worth checking out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0735235171/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_aIDSDb91ZGHZW
I haven't read it yet myself, but her story is an interesting one.

When I was three I was told my desire to wear make up and girls clothes weren't things that boys did. It was a hard lessen that created a lifetime of shame. And cultural conditioning may be the cause of your child's early flip-flop.

Regarding supporting your child, the best thing you can do imo is be supportive in their exploration of self. Right now there isn't much you need to do other than respect whatever pronouns they wish for you to use and if there is a name they'd prefer to be called.

As your child grows you can look into a medication regimine that will temporarily halt puberty. This isn't permanent unless the child desires it to be permanent. It just gives them more time to make a decision on what their next steps may be. Should they decide to transition then HRT can begin.

A great resource would be this book by my friend Amanda Jette Knox, called Love Lives Here.

Her child came out as trans and, a few years later, her spouse did as well. It's a marvelous read about the struggles and the triumphs that occur within a household such as yours.

All in all, the only thing I wish for both you and your child is a lifetime of love and support. I lost my family. Don't let your child lose theirs.
