Do NOT buy a second Z333 set. The Z333 is only 2 x 8 watts plus a sub. It does not even have a tweeter, its "decorative". A second Logitech set won't give better sound, it just gives louder mediocrity. IMHO you should start with a good set monitors and then add a subwoofer later. You'll hear details you've been missing. In the short term you might sacrifice some boomy bass but you would have much better sound overall.

I currently own 3 sets of desk "monitors". The quotes are there because these are not truly flat response studio monitors. They are aimed at consumers.

  • Backup Computer: Mackie CR4 4" Consumer Refrence Montiors, Amazon Link
  • Main Computer: Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers, Amazon Link. This one is paired with a 10" sub.
  • Kitchen TV: PreSonus Eris E4.5 + 10" sub. These are the flattest monitors I own. They were purchased as "B-Stock" at about $130 a pair. They are quite nice but out of budget if purchased new.

So the above are the only ones with which I have personal experience. To me, the Mackie and Edifier are more or less interchangeable.

The cheapest speakers r/audiophile will recommend are the Micca PB42X. Google shows that Micca has quite a following. There a lot of YouTube video reviews of them too.

My apologies for all the US merchant links. It's all I know.

I second this, computer speakers are generally overrated.

I'm also a fan of studio monitors if you don't have the room or don't want to mess around with amps/receivers. I've been using these Mackies for a couple years now and they sound great.

I'm comparing the recommended Micca PB42X to these two speakers. To be used in a home office setting

Edifier R1700BT or Mackie CR4 LTD

All around good reviews for the 3 systems. Thoughts?

Amazon has some still, I just bought a pair last December. Great speakers for the price really!

There are limited editions that have gray accents. The green/gray around the drivers are just colored plastic, only the ring around the volume lights up. I am unsure what sizes/models come in the limited editions. I have the green standards and they are awesome.

I have these as my desktop computer speakers, lovely sound for the price. I imagine they would sound fantastic paired with your lp120.

No screens I'm afraid. There is the CR4 Limited Edition version with white detailing rather than green. Not sure if they're still available anywhere though.

Edit: found them - https://www.amazon.com/Mackie-CR4-LTD-Reference-Multimedia/dp/B00Y4S5KZE - a bit more expensive than I thought they'd be.

Those look cool. This is what I was talking about:

Much simpler looking.

would you suggest the m-audio 42s or A2+ over something like the yumis? or theses?

The mouse, mic, headphones are black already and the mouse has RBG lighting.

The studio monitors only come in green unless you pay $50 extra for the limited edition CR4 set.

The SSD doesn't need to color match because you can just hide it somewhere in your case.

Just got these for that purpose.

Get plenty loud, always on and can handle two (three?) interpenetrates simultaneously which is nice.
