But this will limit you to 480i and 240p, which isn't ideal for a modern monitor.

You can try to use a standard red yellow white (composite) cable with your hdtv. It'll output 50hz pal instead of 60hz ntsc. Don't know how your tv will handle a pal signal, but composite on an hdtv is generally pretty bad all around. Blurry and latency from your tv transcribing analog to digital.

With the HDMI adapter, it's digital to digital with no lag, and it spits out a format your tv knows.


With analog (composite/rgb/component) to an hd tv, the signal is going from digital to analog to digital, which increases latency and reduces visual fidelity.

I've been using this converter and haven't had any issues and I'm so impressed with the picture quality in my 55" tv

Edit: this will be the best jump in quality from a S-Video. There are other upscalers out there that do an even better job, but expect to drop a couple $$$ dollars on those.

Which it looks like it's sync on composite. Which might me causing my issue? I should look for a CSYNC cable correct?

I don't mind using this one for my SNES tho. Unless it's junk for that too.
