Something like this would be good if you feel like spending the money.

If looks aren't that important you could build something out of 2x4s and a couple of hooks for a fraction of the price.

Did you end up actually buying either? I'm still on the lookout and came across this one as well--plus, it's Amazon so very easy to order, although at $90-$100 it's not exactly inexpensive:

Minoura also made the DS-2000, which is also a freestanding vertical stand, but appears to be harder to find.
