I bought some Monoprice component cables from Amazon. They have connectors for multiple consoles, and PS2 is one of them. I haven't had any issues with video quality.
You can get a used one on [amazon](Monoprice 6FT 4 in 1 Component Cable for Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 and PS2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004C4U1VI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_HGHxybTP9KCEE) for like $2 bucks used.
I would recommend buying good quality component cables like the official sony ps3 component cables or monster. There are some other cheaper ones on amazon that do not have as good shielding but honestly the difference between those and monster or official sony isn't that noticeable on my tv. Your tv might be different.

If you don't want to want to buy an expensive OSSC or Framemeister, then maybe you can try a cheap component to HDMI converter. I've never tried them. It might do the job for you. The problem I've always seen with these devices is that most of them just upscale, they don't allow a pass thru of just 480i/480p.

Also, if you want to take the PS2 a step forward is get a memory card with FreeMcboot off of ebay and add ps2rdmod which will let you run most PS2 games in 16:9 with patching files called .pnach.

I was going to suggest these but it seems like they’re out of stock. They are definitely worth the wait in my opinion though. Great build quality and they even work for systems like ps3/x360/Wii
Yeah the problem is caused by the fact that my cable and most cheap cables on eBay/Amazon are not shielded. Just get this.
These are the cables in use, and yes, there are probably a couple of weak links in here:

The "noise" is visible regardless of which source is in use.
Having now typed all that out - would it be logical to first try replacing that unknown component cable feeding to the BVM with another Amazon Basics component cable (I have a spare)? Or are those trash?
I need this cable for my YouTube channel. I do gameplay videos, and currently our games don't look very good which won't retain viewers. This will make our videos look better and improve overall video quality.
