If you can stretch your budget by $20, theres the Moto G, which is arguably one of the best phones under $200

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-Global-GSM-Unlocked/dp/B00GWR36F6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1393805146&sr=8-3&keywords=moto+g

If that is out of your budget, some carriers offer the phone for $100, but you would have to use their prepaid plans

Verizon

Boost Mobile (they share towers with Sprint)

http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Boost-Mobile-Prepaid-Phone/dp/B00HPP3VW2/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1393805146&sr=8-10&keywords=moto+g

if 8GB isn't enough, 16 is another $20. For a phone of your pricing, unless you can find a spectacular phone deal (I found an iPhone 4 for $100 on Craigslist) There aren't many options for a "good" phone (i.e s3, apple quality)

HTC also has the Desire 200 (White is more expensive, so i linked the black one)

http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Desire-Black-Factory-Unlocked/dp/B00F21VZ7O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393805484&sr=8-1&keywords=htc+desire+200

Both these phones have exceptional build quality for their pricing compared to others in this range, but if I had to pick one, I would choose the Moto G. There might be other phones around the same price and quality, but I find these two to be the "leaders of the pack"

Hope this helps you find a new phone!

Edit: The Moto G unlocked and the Desire 200 are both GSM and can fit your needs (T-Mobile)

A regular tablet or an LTE tablet? It would be much easier to get a $50-200 phone.

Moto G is probably the best phone out there under $100 if you don't need any service. Calls won't need bluetooth or be awkward if you need to use the device http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Boost-Mobile-Prepaid-Phone/dp/B00HPP3VW2/

The ZTE ZMax from T-mobile is also available if you want something bigger (5.7 inch screen) for $200 at bestbuy. Not any insane specs but good for the price. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/t-mobile-prepaid-zte-zmax-4g-no-contract-cell-phone-black/9574094.p

Amazon has a $67 Moto G for Boost. Runs 4.4.4 and will probably get Lollipop fairly soon. This is what I use as a dev device, we've got a couple of them in my office.

If you want service on it, you can activate it on Ting for dirt cheap service. But no reason that you have to, it'll work fine on wifi.

Also available at Amazon for the same price.

I would rather invest extra $10 and get a 1GB ram and quad core cpu Moto G http://www.amazon.com/Moto-G-Black-Boost-Mobile/dp/B00HPP3VW2

The info /u/shakezula gave you is all good. The one thing I would add, is you only need a SIM card for 4G LTE data, Sprint uses CDMA for voice and text.

I would like to give you a phone suggestion. The HTC Evo was released in 2010, over 4 years ago and it is very outdated. You're looking at buying it used for $45, I would strongly recommend spending $80 to buy the MotoG brand new. You won't regret it, the battery life is excellent and spec wise beats everything about the HTC Evo. Plus the software is up to date and unbloated. If you want to see a side by side comparison of specs click here.

If you buy the MotoG make sure you buy the Boost model and don't turn it on until you have entered the ESN and activated it on Ting. If you have questions on activating it someone else has written a good guide on bring the MotoG to Ting, link here.

Please don't buy an HTC EVO, trust me on the phone...

Also make sure the ESN for the iPhone you buy on eBay is clean, if it is not you won't be able to use it on Ting. Also there is one other good place to buy used phones, swappa.

^(Also if you don't have a referral link to use yet let me know and I'll PM you mine)

I'd rather buy the refurb on BM for the cashback though.

Hey guys, Amazon has priced matched at $60... if you haven't pulled the trigger yet, this is a crazy good price for this phone.

My wife just got a Moto G off Amazon for $80 and is using it on Ting, which means if she keeps her mobile data usage down the phone should cost us about $10 - $15 a month.

It is an amazingly good phone for that price.

u/ChallengeResponse · 2 pointsr/MotoG

A. I'm seeing it for $90

B. It's the Boost Mobile 8GB CDMA version, so really its only a $10 discount (not the $119 discount they claim):

If you want a Moto G the best price for now is $59.99 and that's only on Amazon as far as I know. It's more on Ebay. And Amazon advertises the price wrong. It advertises it as $76 but when you click new the first option has it for $59.99 and it's sold by Amazon. And even a representative told me it was $76 from that same link.

Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00HPP3VW2/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1413318392&sr=1-1&keywords=moto+g+boost&condition=new

The LG Motion is rootable. Here is a link: http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-all-things-root/611262-i-found-root-guys.html but I honestly think there's a simpler way to root it, just couldn't verify it myself since I don't own the phone but I mean I don't think it can be too complicated or anything, at least not for me

One more thing I'll add. The Moto G is just 3G only for Boost and Verizon prepaid. But there is a 4G LTE version. And also check your local Radio Shack, Target, etc. Whatever you have. I got the LG Volt $86 with taxes and it's like the Moto G. Kitkat and everything but a slightly bigger screen at 4.8 inches, a slightly better front camera at 1.3 megapixels, and a better way better rear camera at 8 megapixels and it too with flash. And it has 4G LTE too for. But honestly Sprint coverage is terrible regardless lmfao. They can have the same or around the same or even less price as online stores.

One last thing I forgot to mention. The Verizon Moto G can't be rooted. No unlocked bootloader and towelroot doesn't work for it

I am seriously considering getting a Moto G, probably from Boost Mobile since they have it for $80. But I am worried it won't work with Ting. Should any new, no-contract Sprint phone work with Ting, from any vendor (provided it isn't super new and not yet supported?)

Or hey, this phone on Amazon is even less. I just don't know if a no-contract phone from Boost will work.

Why not look into a moto e then? It's 120$ off contract. or go even lower, the prepaid moto e is 70$ or lower, though you can get the higher spec moto G for that price.

Moto E prepaid at 70$

Moto G at 60$

[Motorola Moto G has way better specs and with Android 4.4.2 KitKat for $80 from Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Boost-Mobile-Prepaid-Phone/dp/B00HPP3VW2) or get it from your local RadioShack for $60 with their deal that every $30 you spend there, you get $10 to spend at Radioshack (up to 3 times).

You can then unlock it using instructions from Motorola's website and go with any Sprint carrier.

You can go with ChitChat Mobile using their Sprint BYOD (bring your own device) option and I currently pay $14.68 a month after taxes for 250min and unlimited text and picture messaging NO CONTRACT. For some reason I didn't need a data plan for picture messaging. If you want unlimited everything they offer that for $49.99. I've had no problems with them at all but I've been told their Customer Service is lacking. I can switch to somebody else anytime I want.

Will this work?
