The xiaomi phones are nice, but they don't have all of the LTE bands required to have an enjoyable experience in the US.
For your price range, I would look at the Moto G6 or wait a couple months for the G7 to come out.

Or look for a gently used flagship on Swappa. Maybe a One Plus 6, Pixel 2 or S9.

It is for the US, and is sold by Mobiles International LLC (which I believe is an authorised seller).
Comes with no warranty though, and is not compatible with CDMA carriers like Verizon or Sprint (GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile are okay). Might be worth noting.
Moto G6 Plus really nice phone, it is a little more expensive than it should since it is not officialy available in canada. Splash resistant, but test have shown it to survive being submerged in water. It comes with android 8.0 oreo, phones that have oreo out of the box have project treble which makes it easier for them to be updated.
Another good option in your budget is the Samsung Galaxy A8. It is a little bit slower in some tasks, but has really good battery life and camera. This phone is actually IP68 water resistant. Only problem is that it comes with android 7.1 nougat, this means it doesn't have project treble and we don't have even an estimate to when it will be updated to oreo.
If you don't mind importing from china the Nokia 7 Plus can be bought from there with some 4g bands support for your country. There's also the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Note which is super cheap and has really good specs. If you are interested in checking out those, you can buy the Nokia from AliExpress and the Xiaomi from Gearbest. :)
G6 Plus international version XT1926-7 is an option also. Don't qoute me on model number.
