Here are some of the chargers that are known to perform "GOOD" or "BEST" with the Switch.

---------

Best

Charger|Price (USD)|Link|Notes
--|--|--|--
Nintendo Switch AC Adapter|$29.99|Amazon US|This is the only charger you should use with the dock but it's big and doesn't work great with any phones
Google 18W Pixel charger|$35|Google Store|More portable than Nintendo's charger, great at charging phones too, 6ft detachable cable
Google 60W USB-C charger|$59.99|Google Store|Bundled with Chromebook Pixel 2, great for laptops, very long 12ft cable
Apple 61W USB-C charger|$69|Amazon US, Apple|Bundled with 2016 13" MacBook Pro, no cable included
Apple 87W USB-C charger|$79|Amazon US, Apple|Bundled with 2016 15" MacBook Pro, no cable included
RAVPower 26800mAh USB-PD battery|$74.99|Amazon US|Might charge much slower unless you turn off the Switch before plugging it in. Avoid the included bad AC adapter.

Cables

I won't list prices here since they fluctuate a lot. Some of the chargers listed above have a non-removable cable. All the others (except the iPad charger) require a USB C-to-C cable.

USB C-to-C: For the Macbook, Google, SONEic, and battery pack chargers listed above. Here are a few on Amazon: AmazonBasics,
Anker, Cable Matters, Aukey.

USB A-to-C: The iPad charger is the only one that gives good charging speeds with these. The 5ft cable included with the Pro Controller works. Here are some others on Amazon: AmazonBasics, Anker, Cable Matters, Aukey.

No matter which charger you use, it doesn't matter whether the cable says it's USB 2.0, USB 3.0, or USB 3.1. They all charge at the same speed. Just make sure it has the correct plug shape on each end, that it has good reviews at a reputable merchant, and that it's long enough for how you want to use it.

Or you could save money and get any other USB type C wall adapter and cable. These are just examples but I'm sure there are even cheaper combinations. Don't pay more for something that says nyko on it.

To keep it brief; Nintendo Switch draws about 8.9W at most while gaming in portable mode. Also, the Switch can only draw up to 2A due to its design.

A USB-A adapter (along with a USB-A to USB-C cable) supplies up to 5V 1.5A (7.5W) which is insufficient to charge while playing intensive games. The cable you linked is a USB-A to C, so presumably you were using a USB-A adapter which only supplies 7.5W. The Switch can draw more than this while in portable mode, which explains why your battery was still being depleted.

A USB-C adapter (along with USB-C to USB-C cable) supplies up to 5V 2A (10W) which is enough to slowly charge while gaming. (1) (2)

A USB-C adapter that supports USB-PD can supply up to 18W (voltage and current can vary) which can quickly charge the Switch while gaming. (1) (2)

I have these and can verify that they all Turbo Charge the X4, should work fine for the 5X as well:

A USB PD charger should be able to negotiate a 3A@5V rate. I would bet googles 18W USB-C power adapter should work (I don't think the cable is e-marked): https://store.google.com/us/product/usb_c_18w_power_adapter_2?hl=en-US

Edit: I quickly tried it with one of my RPI4's and it works. This should also work and is a bit cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-TurboPower-USB-C-Type-Charger/dp/B01M8MFCYQ/

They work fine. The fit is very snug so nothing's going to be falling out. Of course what really matters is the cable itself and what's at the end of it - the Switch needs wall warts that meet certain specs, otherwise it might charge slowly. (For example https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M8MFCYQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

The pro controller should probably always be charged by the Switch dock for safety ... in that case any micro or C USB cable should work

I am going to buy the same one too here at Amazon

Says on the product page that it supports USB PD (power delivery). So that's what's recommended based on the stress test stating to get a charger with USB Power Delivery

Or for even cheaper you can get a Motorola one off amazon

It's currently $15.98 USD. It's got 17 watts of power, not 18, but it does support the fast charge. Comments say it works with the switch. I bought 1 last week but haven't needed to use it yet.

Any USB C cord will work on Amazon, but if you want to feel the most secure and the fastest charging the Motorola turbo USB C is the way to go: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M8MFCYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_pVwPzbZVWG7CZ

Thank you! will check with another USB-C charger. And in your opinion, does the turbo charger 15 vs 30 make a difference for the turbo pack?

I'm not sure if this helps but yeah pretty much all usb c wires will have the necessary safety measures, I have a crap ton of different brand wires in my place and none of them have fried my switch by charging it so far. Only time my tendency to use whatever wire is available hurts me is when I used this charger to juice up my SF30pro from 8 bitdo, that straight up broke the controller and now I have to find a way to get it back to China for repairs.

That's the Turbopower 30. You didn't specify location so I am assuming US. Also I assume a first gen Z of some variety since you say 2 years.

Still, see my other comment on why I don't recommend the 30W charger. If you absolutely need the fastest charge possible, that will do it, but it is very hard on the battery.

The Turbopower 15 is about 20% slower, but is not as hard on the battery, as it generates a lot less heat while charging. It still will charge pretty warm, but not scorching like the 30W.

If you charge overnight, just get a 5V/2.4A standard USB charger and that will save the battery from a lot of heat. The USB-PD 30W standard is a battery killer in such a small form factor as phones that have nowhere to dissipate the heat. The 15W is really no worse than Quick Charge 2.0 used in previous Turbopower chargers, but it's still fairly warm since it's doing thr voltage conversion in the phone.

So get the lowest you can tolerate in terms of speed if you care about how long the battery lasts before it needs replacement.
