There are 2 issues here. I don't just sympathize - I empathize. Last Wednesday, my Z3 dropped from 4 feet on to tile floor. A tiny crack on the screen, but the LCD was shot. Data's fine, but the touch screen was useless, and nothing showed on the screen itself.

1.) Is the phone still "usable" - can you unlock it, access apps and settings, etc? If so, I highly recommend using Google's own backup system, and iDrive as well. iDrive does offer a free account, and will back up SMS (not group or MMS) which will allow you to view it from a browser, which is nice.

2.) Where are you located (city, region, etc would be helpful)? Truth be told, even in NYC (and yes, I spent HOURS calling places) no one had the screen on hand, and all said a 3-5 day turnaround (got my baby back this afternoon, fully fixed.)

3.) Costs are likely to be ~$100 for parts and labor. The part itself can be bought off of Amazon if you have friends who do iPhone repairs. https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Replacement-Display-Assembly-Adhesive/dp/B07F429B23 and these guys came up when I googled for my device https://phoneremedies.com/collections/motorola-moto-e5 I don't know if Squaretrade / All State will cover you for this, though, so do take it cautiously.

Edit: Ouch, my first time on the Motorola subreddit. I hope you got your phone fixed by now, but my advice still stands.

Hi u/MylianMoonstar,

Thanks for reaching out. This is an international version of Moto g7 Power. Please be advised that this phone is not being offered directly by Motorola. It is built for another region and may not work properly in the US which is why some US carriers may not work on this phone. It is best for you to contact your preferred carrier that you'll use on the device.

It is also best if you get the US Version instead. Here's the link https://www.amazon.com/Moto-G7-Alexa-Hands-Free-Unlocked/product-reviews/B07N8ZTKHX/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewopt_srt?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews&sortBy=recent&pageNumber=1

Idk maybe you shouldn't use aggressive cleaning solution on fragile electronics repeatedly. I would recommend keeping it clean with bottled air. But it sounds like that is the problem, since it worked fine after you cleaned it. So I assume you get too much dust into the port, maybe its also a bit sticky from the cleaning solution?

I would recommend using something like this: https://www.amazon.com/PortPlugs-Silicone-Earphone-Protection-Splashes/dp/B00N1WC0I4

Moto Z2 Force Case, Lenovo Aluminum Metal Bumper Anti-scratch shockproof One buckle locking Easy Assembling Black Protective Case for Motorola Moto Z2 Force https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0752429YC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HFiKAbH00F1WX

[2-Pack] Supershieldz For Motorola "Moto Z2 Force" Edition / "Moto Z Force Edition (2nd Gen)" Tempered Glass Screen Protector, [Full Coverage] [Bubble Free] Lifetime Replacement Warranty (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074BCK3TG?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Glass fit perfectly and had no issues after dropping. The cover I had some issues. After dropping the clasp broke. I just used electrical tape instead of ordering a new one but it does protect the phone. Only mod that does not work is the gamepad. The projector, JBL speakers, car mount, and battery pack are confirmed to work. Im not sure about other mods because I don't own those.

Any USB C cord will work on Amazon, but if you want to feel the most secure and the fastest charging the Motorola turbo USB C is the way to go: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M8MFCYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_pVwPzbZVWG7CZ

Came across this thread looking for case suggestions....
I bought a G4 today (because they were well priced at Costco) to replace my 2013 moto x. It's bigger than I'd prefer, but my first impression is that it's an easy switch.

I found this, this and this for the G4 with the divot cut out, but I'm not totally happy with any of them. I'll probably end up buying the first one. Will update if I find something better.

I found a wallet with the divot cut out.

Edit: bought the first case I listed and I don't really like it. The material is more slick than the phone. And the edge bumper is a separate piece made of hard plastic. It's not the worst though. I didn't want to go case less in case I want to return so I'm stuck with it.
I'd probably try this next, if I decide to stick with the phone.

Moto G7 - Unlocked - 64 GB - Ceramic Black (US Warranty) - Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost, Cricket, Metro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N9M9FX4/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_6.x4DbQDY443S
Is this not the us equivalent of the international phone?

Look at something like this. You plug it into bottom of phone and it lets you use Full Size USB thumb drives/hard drives, full size SD cards, micro sd cards and charge the phone all at the same time.

u/scoot23ro · 1 pointr/motorola

i use this one. works great with no bubbles but its a little tight with a case and is a finger print magnet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XGXFJC/ref=cfb_at_prodpg

Cmon man, at least search amazon. It was the second result.

Question for you all. I'm getting this phone and when I'm looking at cases online for it, about half of them have a cut out on the back where the Moto mods contacts are. Here's an example.

Any idea why they're doing this? As far as I know you can't attach any Moto mods with a case on, so is this a purely aesthetic thing?

I've gotten two of these since my port broke. Used them daily at work and at home.
Don't expect them to be turbo chargers, they work well enough.
No issues 6months in.

Further background: I bought a Moto G6 32 GB at launch in June 2018. I just noticed this today when I went to take a picture and it was all blurry. I don't use the camera often but I definitely took a photo last Sunday and it was good. I don't remember any particular event that could have caused this type of damage.

The only thing I can think of is I sometimes put the phone in my pocket with a couple other things and I'll be driving as well; this probably puts a lot of pressure against the top and bottom ends of the phone and over time I wonder if the glass weakened to a point where it eventually burst. I've also been using a case since day 1 (item link is here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BB3DCCH/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Sorry for the poor picture quality, my only other working camera is the laptop webcam.
