I've done a bit more digging for alternatives since I initially posted this, and the (seemingly) best fit I've found so far is called a MYNT smart tracker that explicitly claims on its page that you can set 'safe' zones like your home so the app won't go off if you leave and items are still there. That seems like it will work on paper at least, but I have no experience with the company or product so I'm hesitant to just snap off a purchase for something that may be very janky.
