It has almost no cushion in the center so that it doesn't make your chin go down to your chest I'd you're on your back, but the sides are high enough to support side sleeping, and the amount of cushion is easy to adjust.
I just bought myself a new pillow. It's a cervical pillow so it has a little depressed area for your head. I really like my pillow, but I think any similar pillow should work well enough. I looked up and down for a memory foam free pillow so there will be more options if you're open to memory foam.
