Is joke? Because these sound fine and they're 2/$6.

Hi bunting - I plug simple lavs with 3.5mm plugs into cameras all the time. Works fine. Here I am with a lav mic (pulled off one of my wireless transmitters) and plugged directly into my Panasonic GH2 (please forgive my head cold):

consumer lavs with 3.5mm jacks cost from [$5 for 2 throwaway Neewer lavs] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DJOIPQ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005DJOIPQ&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) [Referral Link] up to [$18 for an Audio Technica ATR-3550] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HJ9PTO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002HJ9PTO&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) [Referral Link].

You should also get a [$5.30 Stereo male to mono female adapter] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O7AW98/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000O7AW98&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) [Referral Link]in case you run into a mono lav.

No need to rent an expensive mic and recorder.

Hope this is helpful!

Bill

Monoprice 8323 headphones coupled with a Neewer lapel mic will cost less and almost certainly offer better sound quality.

That said, I'll begin reviewing the newer SADES SA902, which costs a couple dollars more, first hand in a few days.

What I'd suggest is maybe buying some decent earbuds or [headphones (Sennheiser HD 202 $25)](https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-202-Professional-Headphones-Black/dp/B003LPTAYI/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1468998322&sr=1-2&keywords=headphones]~($8-$25) and a lapel mic - $5 for now (~$3-$5), then save up for a good system (possibly even separate headphones and mic) when possible. The combos aren't always the greatest, especially lower price models (and for just gaming, a lav mic works more than fine.) The microphone is going to likely be the same exact quality as a ~$30 gaming headset. I'll occasionally just clip the lapel mic onto my headphone cable or my shirt, and works just fine. I think you'll be much happier with sound quality from the headphones too. You can even save $10 and get some Senn HD 201 lightweights

For the mic, I like using this clip-on. Getting tangled might be a problem though, and the wire isn't very long, but the quality of the mic is good.

As for headsets, I had problems with my ears getting too warm (and I hate in-ear). So I got these, the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros. They're expensive, but incredibly comfortable, especially if you get velour earpads. I can wear them for literally 6 hours at a time and feel great. If you've got a medical condition, though, you may want to be more careful.

I've worn the G230, G430, HyperX Cloud Pro 2, HyperX Cloud Core, Takstar Pro 80 (HyperX's are modded Pro 80's with added microphones), Keenion KOS-659 (cheapo $7 bargain bin headset), and Roccat Kave Desert Storm.

Sturdiness: Takstar (has better cable than HyperX with additional strain relief)>HyperX's>>Keenion (very sturdy; all metal other than the cups, though the replaceable pads fail after a while)>Roccat=G230=G430 (Nice solid plastic construction, but the joints are plastic, meaning they fail easily at those weak spots if lightly crushed or dropped)

Comfort: HyperX Pro 2 (more adjustment range, multiple pad options)>HyperX Core>Takstar Pro 80 (slightly smaller pads)>>G230=G430 (cloth "gamer" pads become scratchy and moist; good adjustability and okay clamp force; pad shape is gimmicky but spacious)>Roccat (cloth pads, too much clamping force)=Keenion (on-ear and a bit too small, although the flexible headband allows it to bend somewhat comfortably)

Audio Quality: Takstar (better isolating pads, clean cup interior)>HyperX Core (has padding over driver, similar to Beats)=HyperX Pro 2 (lackluster optional USB adapter)>Keenion (Surprisingly not awful, slightly better than Apple earpods)=G230 (hollow but reasonably flat frequency response)>G430 (multiple weak drivers is a gimmick made even worse with poor USB amplification; good headphone surround sound is software-side)> Roccat (gunshots sound good, vehicles are muffled, music is awful)

These are somewhat comfortable and look gamer-ey, but there's not a whole lot of good I can say for them beyond that. Cloud Cores are $20 more when on sale; iSK HP2011's (another OEM version of the HyperX Cloud) can be had on Aliexpress for $42. Superlux headphones are dirt cheap and offer much better audio quality. If you're looking for sound quality, get nice standalone headphones and clip a cheap lapel microphone to them. If you want to look like a awesome pro gamer, keep in mind that very few (if any) people are ever going to watch you game - and even then, nobody is going to care about the shape of your headphones.

This is the mic I have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DJOIPQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's nothing special, and you need an adapter cable to plug into the gopro. I would suggest getting either This mic or This one I might get soon cuz im getting sick of the cord
