110-120 over wifi is pretty good.
Best advice would be to run an ethernet line from his room to where you need stronger wifi and put an access point there. If you own your home this is a good option.
If running ethernet isn't possible you could try something like this.... but I generally don't get better than what you're getting due to how it works using the electrical wiring....

From upstairs to downstairs getting 20mbs. Not the best, and going to try switching outlets to see if I can get better.
