This is a "separator" that usually resides inside the grip of a hair brush.

See the product images of this hair brush for example: https://www.amazon.com/Olivia-Garden-Ceramic-Round-Thermal/dp/B0016KWWW2/ref=sr_1_152?keywords=hair+brush&qid=1570184388&sr=8-152

Author: bigrottentuna Body: TIL that there is a thing called a separator that resides inside the grip of some hair brushes. How have I lived half a century and not known about these?

Author: Tar_alcaran Body: Because you either always buy the 3 dollar hairbrushes like me and/or still have the one from 2003 because who buys new hairbrushes, these things never wear out?

Author: mentllydistrbdllama Body: I have stupid thick curly hair. Sometimes the bristles fall out from a particularly nasty tangle. I replace them about every two years.

Author: mandbinSF Body: Woahhh fellow curly haired girl here, are you brushing your curls instead of finger combing😐😐😐?

Author: mentllydistrbdllama Body: Sometimes yes. Usually I drown myself in conditioner and finger brush it in the shower. Sometimes though ill straighten my hair and have to brush it dry and bristles fall out. Or if i just dont feel like dealing with it for a while after its dry ill Frenchbraid it but hate the way it looks/feels if i dont brush it so ill also brush it dry then. Mainly its when i stop treating it like the princess it thinks it is.

Author: mandbinSF Body: Ohhh have you tried this type of detangler? https://www.amazon.com/Tangle-Teezer-Original-Detangling-Hairbrush/dp/B0086QEO7K/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=detangler+brush&qid=1570199629&sprefix=detangler&sr=8-4 You can use it on wet curly hair from the bottom up and it works great and is super quick! Then you can just go back in after and blow dry with a boars brush and you won’t lose any bristles!

Author: mentllydistrbdllama Body: I only blow dry my hair like once every 2 years. Otherwise i always let it air dry. And if i use the conditioner like I'm supposed to i won't have as awful of tangles. The biggest problem is that i love to NOT brush my hair for days on end and then its basically a small rodents nest. Or i run out of conditioner and then forget to buy more. Mainly it boils down to I'm lazy and don't care enough about hair care so i end up replacing brushes.

Author: tragicworldrecord Body: I use a tangle teezer on my dry hair but if I tried using only that to brush my hair it'd be in matted dreads within weeks. It's not enough for really thick hair.

Author: Nolungz18 Body: I'd suggest looking in to a wooden 2-3 prong comb for your curls

Author: Nolungz18 Body: Guy here, but I cringed when I read that too lol.

Author: ZugTheMegasaurus Body: I have super-straight hair that won't hold curl at all, but it's thick. Once when I was a kid, my mom was struggling to brush it out and the brush handle snapped clean off. Solid plastic paddle brush, it was kind of amazing. My mom was pissed though; I was forced to go with short hair for years after that. Even now, I probably have to replace my brush every 12-18 months because the bristles just pull right out. I even cut my finger to the point of drawing blood when washing my hair a couple weeks ago; a strand wrapped around my pinky when I was finger combing it and my skin gave before the hair did.

Author: Mandog222 Body: Just rinse it off.

Author: breecekong Body: They don’t make water hot enough to get it clean

Author: creamcheese742 Body: Shower handstands. It’s the only way to really get the anus clean.

Author: DracoCharky Body: Isopropyl alcohol is a thing which exists

Author: Hedgehog797 Body: How is it used/what is it used for?

Author: waterclassic Body: When blow dry styling your hair, it’s easier to work in small sections. These separators make it much easier to section and part the hair than using a big unwieldy hair brush, or your fingers.

Author: p_tu Body: I’m pretty sure it’s used for separating hair.
