I've started using this "no bite" nail polish that's clear and taste absolutely disgusting. It's been easier to stop because it's hard to bite when you have that stuff on!

This is the one I have and it works super well. You’ve got this! I’ve been biting my nails my whole life and I’ve managed to stop for about a month twice. After one application of the nail polish I haven’t had to reapply because I’m just too proud of the progress I’ve made to bite again

I used this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HGWH26?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 to stop biting my nails. It tastes disgusting like I can't quite describe it but it shocks your mouth. When I was first starting, I couldn't put nail polish on because with short nails, it just doesn't look right. So I just put that on along with an opi nail envy strengthener just to let them grow and heal. After a while I got used to not biting so I stopped putting it on but keep doing it until you've kicked the habit!

I haven't bit my nails since thanksgiving and I still use this when I feel my willpower shrinking. I got really invested in nail polish so I just put it on as a top coat and it works just the same

I don’t mean to sound like a jerk, but I also suffered from the same problem. STOP BITING YOUR NAILS. Go to CVS or equivalent and ask if they have a nail biting repellent. Works like a clear nail polish, and tastes awful when put in mouth.

You can get the unpleasant tasting stuff they use to keep people from biting their nails or eating switch cartridges and spray that on the plants:

Bingo. There are commercial products as well meant to stop nail biting/thumb sucking. They come with nail polish applicators so it might be a little easier to work with and easier to reapply on to go than something like vinegar. Can't attest to the smell of it. Here are three that have good reviews on Amazon, ranging in price from low, middle and high.

Or, if you like the look of painted nails, I've heard some people say that worked for them. They didn't want to ruin their manicure by biting their nails. This seems less effective to me though because nail polish will inevitably chip regardless and may tempt a biter.

did you guys try the polish?

the cheap one worked for me so far. feel kinda stupid for not trying it for so many years

Aw, I hope it clears up soon. I've been a nail biter since I was 3, and after a few of these I learned to not chew them down so badly, but they were still stubby and gross. I chew nail polish off, chewed acrylics off, if I can not chew then I pick then eventually chew when I get to nail.

At 24 I'm now trying to stop for good. I bought

I put it on and when it tried tasted it to see how it was. At first I didn't taste anything so I said "heck" and licked 4 nails straight across - biggest mistake of my life. This stuff is the nastiest tasting polish I have ever had the displeasure of putting in my mouth and by the next day I didn't want my hands anywhere in my mouth. I was soothing my urge to bite by just running the underside of my nails over my teeth. Don't even want to do that now.

Hope something works for her, it's super embarrassing to have stubby nails and peeling chewed cuticles when everyone else has cool pained nails.
