I had dreadlocks for a year. Since I'm white, my hair had a difficult time "locking". The lady who did my hair insisted that I don't ever get my hair wet until it locked up. I had to go literally 8 months without washing my hair with running water. I used dry shampoo (which oddly enough made my hair smell like marijuana, and convinced everyone I was a stoner). The shampoo managed to get rid of the funky smell, but still left my scalp dry, and very, very itchy. The dandruff got to the point where you could literally scrape it off in large clumps. It was like cradlecap times 10. The year after I got my dreads I decided they were hopeless, and had them combed out (which hurt like a bitch). Though my hair was then straightened, and the horrible shell of dead skin went away, I still had a brutally damaged scalp which itched constantly and left large flakes everywhere.

I used all sorts of shampoos boasting dandruff control, for 2 months, and got nowhere. Then I got my hands on Head & Shoulders. I followed the directions on the bottle, and literally within 2 days of using this stuff my scalp stopped itching. I couldn't manage to shake a single flake from my head. I was skeptical before using H&S, I thought it would be like every other shampoo, but it held up its end perfectly.

If Head & Shoulders doesn't help you man, you may have to see a doctor.

I work out with mine and it's usually fine. If my scalp gets too dirty and it's not time to wash I use this to help clean my scalp.
