I doubt it. It's probably just the connectors getting old. If you have experience fixing wires and stuff you could get the parts I'm sure and that might help. Or maybe some dust got up in there. Try getting some canned air maybe and blowing it out some.
I changed the battery in my micro and it still does the same thing. It even randomly flashes red sometimes even when I know the battery is fine.
