If you're using just a bare desk, I'd recommend getting at least an aluminum mousepad. Your mouse will glide more smoothly, and probably track better.

Well these are both VERY cheap and relatively unheard of... Questionable quality among other things...
My concern though is that it might not work well or track on an aluminum surface... A large, hard mousepad is a rare thing as well.
