From your card I'm going to assume you have a fair bit of disposable income so I would go for the ROG Asus Swift PG278Q It's 1440p, 144 Hz and has a G-sync module which is great as you have the card to support it my doe cost a pretty astronomical amount for most of us.

Edit: seems i missed its succesor being anounced at CES, In that case i'd wait for the PG278 AQ

u/jamesvrb · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

lots of people on this sub have the ROG swift. it's a 1440p monitor that is also 144hz http://www.amazon.co.uk/PG278Q-Widescreen-Monitor-2560x1440-NVIDIA/dp/B00LBZLIXG I've heard it's great but it's a bit on the expensive side. with a gtx 980 I recommend getting a 1440p monitor such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2765HT-LED--inch-Monitor/dp/B00M913DVG/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1427541848&sr=1-2&keywords=1440p+monitor as it's still 1440p and is quite cheap

Bought a Asus ROG Swift 27" 144hz about a month ago after being on a 27" 60hz panel for 2 years and its such a step up. Im loving it. I've played on 19", 22", 27" and 30" monitors over the years and I feel 27" is the best for me (especially now I'm running a 1440p panel) so I would say go for the 27" + 1440p option.

Do you have a budget in mind? If not, we are kind of stabbing in the dark.

That said, if you want:

A good build with good colours and a PLS panel, but cheap, take a look at this AOC

Good colour reproduction, quality build, nice styling and a VA-LED panel, check out this BenQ

An uncompromised gaming performer, with up to 144Hz refresh and GSync (NVidia adaptive refresh) albeit with compromised colour and viewing angles, take a look at this Asus

More horizontal real estate than 2560 can give you, excellent colour reproduction, calibration controls and more inputs than you can shake a stick at, then check out (my personal favourite) the LG

Hope this gives you some starting points, but just give me a shout if you want more advice. (I can give you personal feedback on the LG 34UM95 from owning it for a few months now.)

I'd encourage you to look into 1440p displays. Better picture quality than 1080p with much lower performance impact than 4k. It's more or less the ideal resolution for your GPU. You'll get 60+ fps on most new games.

Additionally, there is very little native 4k content out there (outside of gaming). As I understand it, the only web browser capable of displaying even 1080p content on Netflix is Edge. I don't even think the Windows App lets you watch in 4k, though I haven't done much research on this; you may want to look it up.

For just a little more than that 4k display you listed, you can get a 1440p 144hz G-Sync monitor (I can't overstate how wonderful G-Sync is).

These are worth a look:

  • Dell S2716DG (TN)

  • Asus PG278Q (TN)

  • Asus PG279Q (IPS)

  • Acer XB271HU (IPS)

Or course, you could save some money by going with a 60hz panel, or a 144hz without G-Sync. My brother has this Dell monitor; it's only 60hz and it doesn't have G-Sync, but the picture quality is fantastic for the price.

For what it's worth, I use the PG279Q that I linked with a GTX 980ti, which performs very similarly to your 1070, and it really is the 'sweet spot' for that card.

    Good luck with your search!

Edit: That 1080p Asus monitor you mentioned looks pretty great too. I'd choose that over 4k any day, but it's all personal preference in the end.

Usually when there are a fairly decent amount of bad reviews it is usually a very bad buy. I try and only buy things that have no bad reviews or a couple. If there are 100 good reviews to 1 or 2 bad ones I would be happy with that.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/PG278Q-Widescreen-Gaming-Monitor-2560x1440/dp/B00LBZLIXG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465409572&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+swift

I would say that is pretty bad. Way too many bad reviews for my liking.

Changed the cooler. New one uses less power, runs quiter and has adjustable fan speed. Put everything except the case in via Amazon. MUCH easier when you get it all in one delivery. Also you will need some Thermal Paste

The PSU will be fine for your question below.

Ordered an Asus ROG PG278Q today at Amazon Warehouse Deals. Will arrive Saturday. 518€ instead of ~680€ just for a scratch on the standing feature. 1440p 27" 1ms and Gsync. U have the normal conditions like new offers from amazon.

u/IamD14 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Okay in that case it looks like 1440p is the way to go. I'd really like something with g-sync so I think my options would be: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PG278Q-Widescreen-Gaming-Monitor-2560x1440/dp/B00LBZLIXG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1449002801&sr=8-3&keywords=1440p+gsync

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-XB280HKbprz-28-Inch-Monitor-Displayport-380x2160/dp/B00MB5O5OY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1449002801&sr=8-4&keywords=1440p+gsync

Kinda leaning towards the Acer as it gives me a 4k option AND G-sync. Not sure the games I play would benefit from 144Hz

u/SmithyXL · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Thanks I'll take a look at that monitor and similar ones. You say that my pc would get 120fps on most games, however when I play something like, Watch Dogs 2 for example, most of the time I don't even hit 60fps. Not sure what's wrong but I don't get 60fps with most games on ultra. Is that due to having them on ultra, or should I be worried something isn't done correctly? :)

Also I just looked at the monitor you linked me, looks good and a good price too! However that's the US amazon. I'll link one I found by just searching the name of the one you linked me and this is the only thing that came up. This seem alright to you? Or could you aid me in finding a good one from UK amazon? xD

Title | ASUS PG278Q vs MG279Q | TN vs IPS Panel Impressions?! First Tech Comparison Video?!
Description | ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q 1440p 144hz 1ms TN Panel Gaming Monitor VS ASUS MG279Q 1440p 144hz 4ms IPS Panel Gaming Monitor Mainly to help a friend and anyone else looking into these two AWESOME monitors. The comparison is mainly between the two display panels since other physical features are seemingly the same and you can already find that info elsewhere (Amazon, Newegg, Asus website, etc.). Although the video clips are of course not 100% precise in visual representation, they are unedited so you can at least relatively differentiate the two monitors. Please excuse the poor lighting and lack of space on my desk for better footage. My room was never set up for tech comparison videos. This was quite the random undertaking. Let me know below what you think about the monitors and/or the video! Constructive criticism is appreciated. Thanks! This one pal, its 144Hz so if you don't play games that make that worth it it's probably best to get another monitor and don't waste your money.

u/SergeantJezza · 1 pointr/buildapc

I thought Gsync was already available? Or if not it's available very soon. I'll look into it.

Edit: just found this monitor which releases August the 4th with Gsync.

u/kiki0145 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme
u/RakoonBerry · 1 pointr/buildapc

Go with this version of the monitor. The thing about dead pixels is that you could get it with any monitor so it really depends on how unlucky you are, if you do have that issue you could just send it back. Amazon is pretty trustworthy and they have excellent customer support.

u/MrBritishGuyESQ · 1 pointr/gaming

My personal recommendation would be an Acer predator 1440 with gsync. I have the 1080 version and its great. Quite pricey but if your spending money on a top end card, you want to play it on a high end monitor. Heres a link (UK amazon) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-XB270HUbprz-27-inch-Monitor/dp/B00U2FE3HY or this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LBZLIXG/ref=psdc_428652031_t1_B00U2FE3HY I have the 4k version of that

u/rektnaut · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Well I'd recommend this one if you've got the cash to splash

u/ramcharan123 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thank you for the advice, I think I might just downgrade (debatably) to considering this a 1440p at 144hz system.
I do unfortunately have a limited budget, and an extra 1080 puts me outside it (although at that point I could consider two of a different card I would imagine). I'm looking at this monitor right now https://www.amazon.co.uk/PG278Q-Widescreen-Gaming-Monitor-2560x1440/dp/B00LBZLIXG instead of the aforementioned 4k monitor.

u/Zuber7 · 0 pointsr/Monitors

A minimum of 1440p at >=120hz? There's not really a lot of them around at the moment.

Cheap option with IPS but out of stock.
Overlord Tempest

Expensive option with other features like gsync, but on a TN panel.

You may want to wait a while to see if Acer's new monitor will switch up prices.
