The original ELI5s were books, and it sounds like you could use a book right about now. Horoscope Symbols is a great starting point to learn more deeply about the symbols themselves and why all these things mean what they mean. This book is a little more beginner friendly, also a great starting point when you're new and wanting to understand how it all works.

Books that describe the what rather than the why are often referred to as cookbooks, where you just look up a planet in a sign or house or an aspect, and you get a paragraph explanation. These are notoriously broad and definitely should not be the end of your studies, but they can be good starting points for seeing what you read about in the "why" books in action. Planets in Youth is probably my favorite cookbook for this. It's supposedly geared towards children and developing youths, but I've found it relevant and accurate across the board as far as age goes. Planets in Transit is the legendary cookbook for transits, and while I wouldn't start with this one, it's definitely worth having on your bookshelf.

Also, check out the resources in the FAQ post. That section is specifically designed to offer online resources for people in your position who want to learn some basics.

The water types are said to have depth of emotion, intuitiveness, and high creativity. Not sure about tragedy but they hold memories and people deeply because of their strong bonds and powerful memory (emotions strengthen memories).

Haven't seen a site that interprets a chart that in-depth for free, perhaps because there are a really large number of combinations. That would be cool though, so I imagine someone would make that happen in a decade or so. There are bits of information that you could piece together (investigating about each placement through books and forums and websites, and tying the pieces together ie "Venus Conjunct Mars in Cancer, in First House", etc). There are professional services, the most automated and popular ones being Liz Greene and Robert Hand - intuitive and interactive interpretations, for an overall view (astro.com) and Astrotheme's automated interpretation (in-depth but a bit more segmented and technical).

One site you might be interested in is [Inside Degrees] (http://aquaorfire.net/astrology/inside_degrees/inside_degrees.html), a resource for the meaning or significance of each degree. The most insightful resources for gaining an intuitive understanding of astrology are personal experience, a curiosity for people and an appreciation of how they express themselves (usually unconsciously, through the higher mind or from experience), an awareness of how life continuously shifts through the [Planets in Transit] (http://www.amazon.com/Planets-Transit-Life-Cycles-Living/dp/0924608269) (Robert Hand and Robert Pelletier's books are pretty legit), and continuous reflection. My preferred resource for daily transits is [astrotheme] (http://www.astrotheme.com/transits_ephemerides_chart.php), and for general browsing I thoroughly enjoy astrolocherry's webpage.

Disclaimer; not an astrologer, probably not pro enough to do a legit reading yet; still learning and trying to become more intuitive about astrology/earth/life~

To answer your question OP, humor. The answer is humor. Gemini is quippy and Capricorn is sarcastic. Try expressing yourself through dry, honest humor. But really, Gemini is not all that significant aside from your Rising. Sagittarius & the 9th House are far more important as you have a stellium there.

The other commenters are referring to transit Saturn (& later on, transit Pluto). Saturn is currently at 20° Capricorn & Pluto is currently at 23° Capricorn - both retrograde. Your Saturn Return is not for many more years. When Saturn returns to your birth sign of Aries- around 29 years of age.

Relevant Transits: to plug into your favorite search engine & find additional information on

  • Transit Saturn in the 8th House (Saturn’s Retrograde will briefly return to your 8H this summer, and then move into your 9th House)
  • Transit Saturn in the 9th House
  • Transit Pluto in the 9th House
  • Transit Saturn conjunct Sun (26° CAP)
  • Transit Saturn conjunct Neptune (27° CAP)
  • Transit Saturn conjunct Jupiter (28° CAP)
  • Transit Pluto conjunct Sun (26° CAP)
  • Transit Pluto conjunct Neptune (27° CAP)
  • Transit Pluto Jupiter (28° CAP)

Saturn & Pluto move at different speeds, the timing of these conjunctions will vary. To find out when these conjunctions occur, consult an ephemeris:

As far as websites, I'm not sure why you're averse to astro.com. Check out their intro.

I don't know too much astrology, but my greatest resources come from Robert Hand books (I know, not a website):

Planets in Transit - covers relationships between transiting planets
Horoscope Symbols - In depth analysis of the meaning behind planet symbols. I don't know what /r/astrology thinks of this one but it helped me develop an intuition for understanding chart symbols.
Planets in Aspect - Explains relationships between planets; sextile, square, opposition, etc...
Planets in Houses - Relationship between houses and what it means when a planet is in one.

I'd say I've only really read through the Horoscope Symbols one and use the others as references while examining charts. Unfortunately I haven't found a parallel resource online.

Best of luck!

Anything titled "All you need to know about..." + I recommend starting out with the Arab, Greek and Roman classics...no one can take the basics away from you then :) Here's a list of books I'd recommend for starters - it's not everything but definitely something:
