I'd say stick to the style that attaches to you're rear axle. Rollers can be difficult to use with fully functioning limbs, and might be a recipe for a matching cast on your other arm...

I have this magnetic trainer. I bought it a couple of years ago and it was about $75 at the time. I couldn't see paying so much more for a CycleOps system for my winter exercise. Be sure to get one that includes the training rear skewer and the leveling block for your front tire.

I've found some decent workout rides on Youtube that help make it less boring, but it's still going to be boring compared to real world riding.

What's your price range? I got this RAD Cycle Products MAX Trainer at Christmas and have been using it about twice a week since with no issues. The initial setup wasn't too difficult, just time consuming, especially to get everything balanced. It's loud but not too bad - I use a smoother road back tyre.

You could also go for a bike trainer - keeps you on your bike for comfort and familiarity when you go back on the road
