I'm looking at getting a better laptop for games. I've got an Inspiron 15 7577 that's 4-ish years old and I can't play games like Rainbow 6, Destiny 2 and GTA V for more than 30 minutes without my laptop getting super hot and everything getting super slow (like 20 fps)

Some might say it's overkill, but it's totally worth it for $1200 if you don't mind buying a used one.
It has a very good screen with accurate colors (which almost all laptops under 1000 dollars lack), it's thin, light and portable, has a good thermal design (most laptops overheat easily and become hot to touch) and its specs will keep you future proof.

BUT if you don't mind a mediocre screen quality, then literally any laptop with gtx 1050 or higher would be sufficient.

IMO probably the best all rounder laptop one can buy, rtx 2060 ~= gtx 1070. Is 1800$ though, you can look for an msi gs65 with 1060. Those are 1800 off sale but will dip much lower as they have last gen graphics cards.

alienware m15. The cpu tends to go very hot but your mileage may vary. GTX 1070 max q for 1500 is really good though, so here goes.

Well, there isn't much choice and for the price I'd just go with the Blade 15 with the GTX1060 Max-Q and that amazing i7 will rip through all games at FHD and max settings. Get the most expensive model you can afford with 16GBs of RAM and at least 256GB of SSD storage with an HDD to store your games and boot Windows quickly.

Also consider taking a look at the new -> Razer Blade 15. It packs 8th Gen i7 hexaaore processor, GTX 1060 Max-Q, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD storage. The ibuypower one linked doesn't appear to be that bad. But when reading the comments there are people who got the 8700k version for $1350 (currently $1433, one you linked "on sale" for 1499.99)...so pricing might be misleading. Also keep in mind SI's need to make a profit and usually skimp when it comes to things like cooling, storage and motherboards. I can't tell what mobo that has, but it shouldn't be much of an issue unless you want to overclock, probably not as good components and features as what I listed though. The cooling is actually pretty nice with the cpu watercooling at that price. But not sure on how it is for the other components (ie system case fans). The storage is a bit shit, with a smaller sata ssd and a smaller much slower mechanical hdd. The RAM isn't much better, going off amazon reviews it's basically no name ram at 2666mhz. Also they use a generic 600W psu and apparently the included mouse and keyboard stink. So gotta take the good with the bad but the one I price out looks like a much better option across the board and leaves you room to pick and choose certain upgrades n such

6 months ago i was interested in buying the razer 15, i had 2k and thougt it was a nice machine. However getting it with the swiss keyboard layout would have cost me 2.5k.
