I have the Saitek Strike five keyboard, and I have had lower end saitek sticks. I just assume(note: just assuming) that the cyborg is going to be a worse version of the ST290 which isn't terrible in it's own right.

Again I can't be sure but I have heard good things about the R5's, when researching for a new stick. Almost went through with it. The wait for it to ship to the states was the only thing holding me back.

My advice is look around on forums and see of anyone else responds here. I hate the feeling of buyers remorse.

I use two joysticks I've had for years and years, long before ED was a thing.

Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 mine is the circa 1998 version without the red highlights.

Saitek ST290 Pro cheapo one I picked up at Walmart that I've had for probably 10 years.

The Saitek stick is decent for $20 if you can find one.

You're not going to get a lot of 'features' for that kind of cash.

The Saitek has throttle and rudder control though, so you should be good for most flight sims.

There are three or four of the same or near to same model, and it can also be found with different branding. In fact I think Saitek and Madcatz might be the same company these days, so a MadCatz offering that looks similar would probably be the same product.

I've owned a couple of these. They seem to last as long as the grease they put in them. A couple of years, or until you spill a Mt. Dew on it, like I did. :P

my bad, it's a ST290PRO

I'd like the DDR2 RAM. I can trade:

  • robotics stuff (BOEBot, SumoBot, PICs, PICikit2 programmer)
  • Misc other computer stuff, ask for what you need
  • Saitek ST290 PRO Flightstick
  • Logitech gamepads (I've got a few different ones)
  • A few months of Web Hosting

That is a shame, and all the more reason I eagerly await Star Citizen. I know it won't be the perfect space game for me, but I feel that it will come closer than anything since Star Wars Galaxies. (Although while I have high hopes for it, I doubt it will surpass SWG's breadth, at least in my mind.)

And I agree about flying with a controller. It's better than a keyboard, but it certainly isn't a joystick.

In my day, I used a trusty Logitech Extreme 3D Pro as my daily driver, an upgrade from the very awesome but somewhat lower build quality Saitek ST290.
