If you are going by this : http://imgur.com/uMUCEmt

as the basis of a 490, I am sorry to break it to you but it is a Typo.. the part number is a REF RX480

Not sure, but you can still order the $249 Sapphire one - the Sapphire one says 'currentlytemporarily out of stock'

Will you use Windows 10? Win7 maxes out RAM at 16gb. It can't use more. Win10 can.

I don't see any problems with the rest. You might consider changing your video card if you expect these prices. That card sells for $200 but people are scalping. The benchmarks aren't out completely, but the card seems like it should hold its own.

Look here, https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/ regularly and you'll find one, hopefully.

Here is a RX480, in stock on July 16th, for $240

u/thatskeptic · 2 pointsr/FTH

480 will be available sunday, that should be somewhere between the 970 and 980 in terms of performance for about 65% of the price of the 970, for what that's worth.

rx 480 should be in your price range and would allow you to play recent games at very high settings:

That seems odd because I have seen listings around 500$ and that's about 310$. I'm very confused. That being said I have found a verified seller on Amazon selling for about the same price as you got it, and there are a lot of 5 stars saying it is legit. Would be great if someone could verify this seller:

Actually i think that might be a mistake on PCpartpicker's side, this is the card i ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GTYIEG2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01GTYIEG2/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

This is the only one on Amazon around that price. Everyone else is like $300+.

No it's just the sapphire rx480 8gb

It's the same as this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GTYIEG2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_EWQBzbZC4SM24

Hello /r/buildapc,

This is my current build. (Not the best, but new to improving my stuff and I'm trying. :/ )

I just bought a Radeon RX 480 8GB to upgrade my GPU.

According to PC Part Picker, everything should be compatible but as soon as I started my system I smelled a burning smell that I think originated from my PSU.

I immediately turned everything off. I just reinstalled my previous GPU and everything started back up fine.

I also remember a red light lit on my motherboard that wasn't lit previous to the new card being installed. There wasn't any distinction on the board as to what it meant.

Could it be my PSU? Should I upgrade that too?

If so, how about the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 PSU for this end build?

Thank you for any help.

Sapphire is selling theirs to for the same price but no backplate I don't see why anyone would get it over the XFX though.

u/AutVeniam · 1 pointr/buildapc

Im looking for the newest video card, the sapphire radeon 8gb one but why can't I find it available? Is this https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI.../dp/B01GTYIEG2 the same thing? Because on newegg there are so many of the similar ones and it's my first time building so I'm kind of daunted.

Or maybe it's out of stock? I thought it wasn't available AT ALL. I kind of just want to buy a video card and be done with the anxiety of building my first desktop . Do you or anyone else have a good recommendation for a comparable video card? I was thinking of Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card ... but unsure ..

I see everyone saying to wait for the aftermarket ones, but I just ordered this. Is this not what people mean? Did I mess up?

Note the price went up after I ordered.

u/BatCountryTourist · 1 pointr/buildapc

Is this Sapphire RX 480 one of the improved aftermarket models people have been saying to wait for? Not entirely clear on what's better about the upcoming aftermarkets; if this is one of them I'm preordering now.

u/EnderbyEqualsD · 1 pointr/buildapc

One more question before I start pulling the trigger.

I am seeing some RX480 8GB out there for a bit more (https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-21260-00-20G/dp/B01GTYIEG2/).

Is this another option for this build? If I decide to say screw it and spend the extra $40 for the 8GB, is that a complete waste of money or do you think it would pay off in the long haul?

At some point we need to have a discussion as a community about what price we use when we talk about graphics cards and equivalence & power/$.

AMD RX 480 MSRP Pricing

The AMD RX 480 reference card is MSRP'ed to retailers at

  • Any brand reference - 4GB: $199 MSRP
  • Any brand reference - 8GB: $240 New
  • XFX Overclocked- 8GB: $270 New

    (Sources: NewEggBusiness.com)

Now these MSRP selling points are not the "price" of the card, only the MSRP used for retailers. The market rate price on amazon, etc, which is controlled by supply and demand and free market pricing, is a much different story. Cards sold at MSRP are purchased and resold on the free market unless this 'arbitrage' is controlled. Currently AMD does not enforce any MAP or other price controls on stores.

    AMD RX 480 Market Pricing:

  • Any brand reference - 4GB: $? Note: Impossible to find this card for sale!
  • XFX reference - 8GB: $375 Amazon
    Amazon
  • Any brand reference, not XFX - 8GB: $325 New Amazon $375 'Used' Amazon marketplace
  • XFX OC - 8GB: $370 Amazon -

Note how the OC XFX has elevated the cost of the stock XFX card even though it is functionally the same as the Sapphire/MSI etc stock reference cards. Demand and pricing don't follow logical feature comparisons.

Let's pull in the Nvidia cards share we?

    GTX 1080

  • Any brand founders reference - GTX 1080: $699 MSRP NVIDIA
  • PNY Founders reference - GTX 1080: MSRP $699 New Amazon
  • EVGA Founders reference - GTX 1080: $830 New Amazon
  • MSI Founders reference - GTX 1080: $850 New Amazon
  • MSI GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING - OC: $775 New Amazon

    GTX 1070:

  • ASUS Founders reference - GTX 1070: $525 New Amazon
  • ASUS overclock - GTX 1070: $449 New Amazon

    GTX 1060:

  • Any brand reference - GTX 1060: $299 MSRP NVIDIA

    Conclusion:

    *edit:
If the price vs MSRP for other cards is any indication, it is reasonable to expect the 1060 to retail significantly over the $299 asking price post launch, maybe $350 or higher. Then it becomes a question of value and how the 1060 will effect the market demand for the RX 480. If the OC versions of the RX 480 are on the market and maintain the same or lower prices as currently($325-$375) then the value/$ of the RX 480 is still higher than the 1060's likely real world results.

You didn't specify a price range, and I'm not familiar with what they normally go for in Canada but: https://www.amazon.ca/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-21260-00-20G/dp/B01GTYIEG2/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1469476080&sr=1-1&keywords=RX+480

or https://www.overclockers.co.uk/search?sSearch=RX+480 They ship to Canada, just add a card to basket and in basket you can choose country and see price incl. VAT.
