You should be able to pick up a secondhand 16-50mm kit lens for pretty cheap, otherwise if you want more background blur (bokeh) check out the Sigma 30mm 2.8 - its had for around £130/$150 new and is a great all round prime lens.

If you don't mind manual focus and aperture, the least expensive option is a [$12 Canon FD to micro 4/3 adapter] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003MDWG68/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003MDWG68&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) and a [<$100 Canon FD 28mm f2.8 lens] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AAZG5YA/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00AAZG5YA&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20).

Here is the image quality this lens produces on the GH3: http://vimeo.com/102436852

If you need to shoot indoors and/or in low light, the least expensive autofocus/autoaperture prime lenses are the $199 [Sigma 19mm f2.8] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BPZCYK8/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00BPZCYK8&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) and [30mm f2.8] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BQXL6OY/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00BQXL6OY&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) for MFT.

Here's what the Sigma 19mm can do on the GH3: http://vimeo.com/76426844

If you prefer autofocus and auto-aperture, the [least expensive system zoom with image stabilization is the ~$200 Panasonic 14-42mm f3.5-5.6] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B7FOVAM/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00B7FOVAM&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20).

Here's the GH3 with the 14-42mm: http://vimeo.com/82938870

Hope one of these options fits your budget!

Hi /u/Mcturtle101 - I recommend you book a few jobs while you're still in school with the equipment you have and use the money you earn to buy new gear instead of spending your startup capital before you have any income.

That said, when you're ready, you can set up a very capable 4K production studio with $5000. Here's how:

Camera:

[Panasonic GH4 4K camera: $1698] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00I9GYG8O/?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&condition=new&creative=390957&keywords=Panasonic%20DMC-GH4&linkCode=ur2&qid=1404250305&s=electronics&sr=1-1&tag=battleforthew-20)

You'll also need a few light stands, batteries and cables, but with the right skills and just a little over $5000, this setup will give you the ability to produce image and sound quality that will match or beat anything your local competition can provide.

Hope this is helpful and good luck in your new business!
