In Indian mythology, it was thought that breasts were where womens' power resided. That's probably not why serial killers do it though.

Honestly, the 2 main mythological stories : Mahabharat and Ramayan are both metal as fuck.

They aren't really religious. You can read both as straight up high fiction.

Mahabharat is basically Indian GOT, and Ramayan is Taken on steroids. That being said, both are really about human learning about duty, responsibility and moral dilemmas.

Great modern versions of it :

Ramayana by C. Rajagopalachari if you want to start out simple. It was written for the younger generation and the English is quite unique.

Sita: An Illustrated Retelling of the Ramayana if you want a modern retelling of The Ramayana.

The Immortals of Meluha if you want a twisted take on some myths(this is not mythology of old but a reimagination using some concepts and characters. Another unique English warning would probably do good here).

Read something like Devdutt Pattanaik's Sita. It's an easy read and explains the differences in different versions and provides interesting facts.
