Just to follow on here. I spend 1-2 months in China every year (and have done soe for the last 12 years) and tend to eat fairly healthy while there (although I drink way too much Baijiu and Tsingtao ;) )

What works for me is skipping breakfast (I usually IF anyway, so nbd), having a large, healthy lunch (ideally post training)- which I eat at a local restaurant- and then having a medium-large dinner, again at a local restaurant.

I would stock up on Starbucks Via if you are a coffee freak like me:

And I never bring food or supplementation with me (for me) but you may want to bring whey protein and/or creatine with you.

I would strong suggest NOT to eat at KFC, but rather enjoy the local cuisine, which I'm sure is healthier and better than you might think.

I would guess you are staying in Shanghai, since boxes are plentiful there and basically are not plentiful anywhere else in China (maybe Beijing). If you are in Shang, of course you could even eat Western food in many places as well.

I've had some of the best meals of my life in China. There's a really great Iberian/Spanish place in the French Concession:

As I write this, I am living in Barcelona, and I still have fond memories of this little Spanish place in Shang. Weird.

If you order the Vias in bulk, its a lot less expensive. You can regularly find 50 counts on amazon for around $25, making it 50 cents a pack. Since it never really goes bad, you don't have to worry about not using them all up on a trip.

It depends on what you're looking for. In my EDC bag I'll keep a few of the Starbucks Via just in case I need to make quick cup of coffee.

Now if you're storing coffee at a bugout location you look into this stuff. It's got a 25 year shelf-life supposedly.

At home though I keep some of these around for when I'm too lazy to grind any beans.
