Only thing I really need is this doorstop. Currently using a large plastic trash can to prop the door open so the air can move through the window and out. Trash can looks like it's about to break too. Thanks for the contest!
Oh if they refuse the lock, a door stop/door wedge would work just fine. example 1 example 2
Also this item works where when the door opens a chime is let out. the two magnets line up and as long as they are side by side nothing happens but when they are separated it makes a sound. I have free 2nd day shipping at amazon if you need any of these to feel safe and epically if your parents refuse the lock.
