So I've drank a bunch of Adagio teas over the years and was going to give my recommendations (of similar price to what you recommended), but then I started adding up the price and...Adagio is just way overpriced for what it is these days.

So here's my recommendation: go to What-Cha and buy this http://what-cha.com/intro-to-tea-collection/intro-to-tea-collection/
It's about $25, ships free anywhere in the world, and will give you 10 samples of quality tea for about what 5 samples of mediocre tea was going to cost you from Adagio once you added shipping.

To answer your other question, the Ingenuitea has no advantage over simpler vessels like a porcelain teapot or gaiwan. I had two, and honestly it's just an over-engineered solution that does that exact same thing but is harder to clean. For a beginner, the choice is pretty simple:

-If you're willing to sit down with the tea and brew multiple small cups, get a porcelain gaiwan
-If that sounds like a hassle, and you really want to just to brew a huge mug and get on with your day, either get a porcelain two-cup teapot or a porcelain mug with cover and basket infuser (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Porcelain-Tea-Mug-Infuser-White/dp/B01HEFC8SK/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1479443044&sr=8-17-spons&keywords=covered+mug+tea&psc=1)
