I'm exceptionally happy with my TDK A34 - link here, which is a bit of a sleeper hit. The sound is quite stunning and it has taken a beating in the shower, been dropped, and is still kicking along, though the device is primitive in other ways (it looks plain). The bass response is superb on this bad boy (it has a slightly warm sound, though not so much so to color the sound undesirably, to my ears).
Currently it is at its lowest selling price, on the US amazon site, per CamelCamelCamel..
If you can buy it from the US site, do so. It should be around $104 CAD once converted. On Amazon.ca, the price is marked up a ton.
I've listened to the Bose Soundlink Color, which a friend owns. Its quite well made and has excellent sound, but I was less than thrilled with the bass response. I can't comment on the Soundlink Mini II which was mentioned earlier by someone else.

An adapter that allows them to watch streaming services from their laptop on TV (if no HDMI out). Web authentication and prevents many other standard streaming boxes from working in college.
