Conan stories are kind of all over the map. Marvel had them for a good 30+ years, then Dark Horse, now I guess Dynamite does them. To make things trickier, a lot of the Dark Horse and Dynamite stuff are reprints of the Marvel stories.
If you're an adult, I'd get the Savage Sword of Conan TPB series. It's B&W like the original magazine, and has some amazing art that somehow seemed to go missing in the comic series.
If you're a youngster, go with the [Chronicles of Conan series] (http://www.amazon.com/The-Chronicles-Conan-Vol-Elephant/dp/1593070160). These are the comic book issues that began in 1970.
I just bought Chronicles of Conan #1 today. It's a very affordable copy of the first few issues of Conan the Barbarian. The first 4 volumes are all Barry Smith who became famous for this awesome work. Volume 4 is Smiths most mature work though it is also the most expensive of the volumes. Red Nails is Smiths masterpiece.
