Mmmm you're throwing that around like you have a social studies background, but you've clearly never hung out in a climbing camp.

You think every poor person has a phone?

You think national parks don't have cell service already?

If you're fortunate enough to travel to a national park, you're already somewhat privileged. The entrance fees alone are part of that. I'd suggest you pick up a copy of, "the great New wilderness debate" if you're serious about the topic. All activities have impact. The magnitude of it depends on where you draw the system boundary. I personally have never felt super confident about that sort of calculus of environmental ethics. Personally, I would suppose that driving to the crag or flying anywhere to climb probably has a far greater impact on the system as a whole than pulling on the actual holds or drilling a few bolts. Furthermore, I think there should be a real discussion about the motivations for and effects of this mentality that humans are separate from and only visitors to natural areas.
