A Thermopro monitor, more specifically this. I know it's cheap but it's been accurate as far as temperature goes, and the humidity tester works as far as I can tell. Maybe I should invest in a more industrial one for troubleshooting.

Some thermostat tell you, or you can buy something like this:

Moss on the roof and new insulation. I'm not really sure. If the mild is new then something has changed to cause it. There might be more to the story then what we've uncovered so far, but going on just this the insulation seems likely. But, those foam beads don't look like they'd air seal very well.

Adding insulation/air sealing a house and causing it to become so air tight that it gets mold issues is a pretty common mistake. If you want more information on that look up sick building syndrome.

Do you have icicles hanging from the roof? That would indicate ice damning and likely leaks into the attic.

Can you pick up a humidity monitor? I have this one to give you an idea.

Here's a shopping list for my current set-up. It's an extra small closet grow, but that's what i have to work with. You don't have to get exactly everything on this list, but you can use this for reference for your own grow!
Ill be running 1 plant at a time for now, with this set up.

> Actually its not constantly flooding, well in my mind, it's not. It's just that every few years around here all the basements tend to flood. Right now the house has been sitting empty for a couple years with no de-humidifier and it's stayed very dry.

So it regularly floods and it's been empty for years. Normally, the only people that buy these are the ones that plan to do a total renovation project to it or they're building a new house.

There is a high chance of the house having mold and rot somewhere, probably behind the basement walls.

Before you do anything, buy one of these and come back to tell us the results first. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XTPTG1J/ref=psdc_3737571_t1_B01HDW58GS#customerReviews

Seeing various different plants in this photo, everything in Foxfarm Ocean Forest, no nutes. 2400 Total Watts ( LED "Watts.. so whatever that means to this manufacturer" )

  • ones on the left started in window, auto pineapples 5gallon pots, been growing for 53 days, buds appeared Aug 26th
  • the next ones over got moved from the 2x4 tent, auto girl scout cookies and auto pineapple, 3 gallon pots, a few weeks away from harvest. 59 and 54 days growing
  • the next two were started after I got a grow light and added it to the window, auto gorilla glue #4, 5 gallon pots, 17 days growing
  • the other plants are A Fig Tree, some peppers, chives and lettuce and catnip. various pots.

Moved everything into the tent over the last weekend.

    Pretty happy with this tent!

Big question on mind is the best way to utilize? I am thinking of using my 2x4 for "vegging" and this 5x5 for flowering? Not sure about moving plants around though. Could also just keep two separate staggered grows going. I thought I could just do all stages in one tent but the different humidity and temperature requirements would mean compromising on the best environment for each stage. Another option is to try a scrog in the 2x4 and a 'regular' grow in the 5x5.

You're not going to know until you set everything up. Set everything up, lights, timer, etc, and put in one of those digital thermometer/hygrometer in there. Test run for 24 hours and then check your hi/low temp/rH for the last 24 hours.

Something like this is what I'm talking about.

That will at least give you an idea if what equipment you will need (portable ac/space heater/humidifier/dehumidifier). If those temperature swings are accurate, you going to need some sort of temperature/humidity controller to automate this.

buy a pocket thermometer and stick in the vent closest to the air handler in the attic. Then buy a temp/humidity sensor that sits on a table. You should see a 16-20 degree differential between the two temps.
