Cats do super well with positive reinforcement. I took my cats favorite treat which is freeze dried salmon bites and only allowed her to have those when she did positive steps towards learning to use her new cat wheel. It may have been that she simply walked up to the wheel and took a treat off of it. But within four days that cat was on the wheel running by herself with my encouraging her with a little piece of salmon.
