I've seen stupider things done. I'm almost positive someone on reddit posted about finding an old hardwired smoke alarm that someone shoved in the wall during a reno. What you can do is drill a small hole in the wall and run a cheap USB camera into the wall and see what's in there. But look for one with a threaded tip and tool kit. The threaded end has an attachment for a small hook. Used it to hook a watch that had gone down a rain drain and it worked great...
There is probably a bottle cap or kid's toy just past where your auger cleaned. You'll need a longer auger. Ideally; you should use an auger that will reach from plumbing connection to the next plumbing connection. My neighbor found a comb in his pipe!
