When I initially got my pump to get a little supply for when grandparents or anyone watch LO and eventually when I go back to work I was keen on getting the spectra as I had heard they work great and I had been struggling with my insurance provided medela pump for too long. In comparison to that rubbish - definitely the best upgrade ever (I got as much in that as a haakaa).

We ended up going with the spectra2 as I saw it had a timer and light and I was like...how handy! Plus that's the one sold now throug spectra so cool. What I didn't figure was that they removed the portable aspect that the spectra1 had. Wasnt a dealbreaker as it worked so much better and I was thrilled to actually build a decent stash...but I was still a bit sad I was always plugged into a wall. If baby cried I'd unhook myself to go tend to her. Or even just to sit in the middle of a room. And the cords wrap on everything. But ok I made due.

However - my DH "fixed" my spectra as an early valentine's gift! I am so happy! Pumped while playing with LO on her playmat this evening ...which was always too far from the wall before. Had to move and get something....just took the pump with! For anyone who has the spectra2 and loves the added features but wants the added luxury of the portableness of #1....highly recommend!

for those curious how he made it portable: we used a 12V battery. the same power supply as the Milwaukee drill (am sure any drill that uses a 12V battery would work). And the adaptors is from a heated coat I have that uses the same battery source, but is available for $7 on Amazon as well (apparently it is a Male on 2 ends for a cord??? Attached a link below if interested). My DH figured it would work as it's both 12V and it definitely did. Just pumped one side while nursing LO on the other this evening and the battery is still full (which I heard was an issue with spectra1, so that's even more awesome).

Anyways, if anyone else was sad about being cord-bound, wanted to share my happy present!!

And just a power drill 12V battery that you can recharge similar to: https://www.walmart.com/ip/New-Power-tool-Battery-For-Milwaukee-M12-12V-12-Volt-48-11-2401-Lithium-Ion-48-59-2401-M12-30-Min/340712126

Okay u/DeviatusPod, from the top review on Amazon it looks like that device is happiest at 9v.

You can use a 9v rechargeable battery pack like this. Then you’ll need a male to male adapter like this.

USB doesn’t put out enough voltage.

How long are you leaving it on at a time?
