If your computer does not have a native Dual-Link DVI output, then the only other way of getting a Dual-Link DVI connection is with a DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI active adapter. Please note that not just any DP-to-DVI active adapter will work; it must be a Dual-Link DVI active adapter. There are active adapters which only support Single-Link DVI, intended for multi-monitor configurations on some older AMD graphics cards (detailed here), and these adapters will not work for 1080p 120+ Hz.

DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI active adapters tend to be unreliable, and should only be used as a last resort if you have no other method of connecting. If you have not purchased your monitor yet I suggest you do not buy the XL2411Z or GN246HL, but instead get a monitor that has a DisplayPort input.

However, at 144 Hz I did experience loss of signal when turning the monitor off and then on again, or putting the computer to sleep and waking it up again. I did not experience any issues when running at 1080p 120 Hz instead though.

As always, active adapters tend to be very finicky and I cannot guarantee that the adapter will behave the same on your system. My testing was done with an AOC G2460PF and a Radeon RX 480 and GeForce GTX 1080.

Should be no issue at all, depending on the resolution (1080p should be super easy).

Anyway best bet is to wait for AIB boards that have DVI as well or that include the adapter.

I'm only aware of a single product that supports 1080p @ 120Hz and its $90. Adapters like this don't have the bandwidth to do 1080p @ 120Hz and there is no adapter on the market (that I'm aware off) that can do 1080p @ 144Hz.

I went with This one, mainly because it wasn't $70+ but still seems to have all the things I need, with support up to 2560x1440.

Actually it seems like lost people's solution is to go to display port anyways so you can probably just go with that. Seems that you would probably need the expensive adapters to get the full refresh rate although the one you linked seems to work for some. Here the reviews that mention refresh rate. The first guy has a very thorough review although I didn't read it fully through.

If I were you I'd try with a $30 active adapter like this one. It should work with any recent video card like a 9 or 10 nvidia series.
If for some reason it doesn't, then you'll have to get a $100 adapter that comes with a USB plug for extra power.

I have a MSI GS65 Stealth Thin with MiniDP and Thunderbolt 3. My monitor (BENQ XL2411z) only supports 144hz on DVI-D Dual Link. I'm looking for an adapter or combination of adapters that will connect from MiniDP to DVI-D Dual Link and allow for 120hz or 144hz.

It will work, but you might be limited to single link resolutions (1080p). I've had monitors work at 2560x1440@60Hz with single link before, but I've got no experience with the QNIX 2710.

For best results, get a displayport to dual link DVI adapter, like this one. I've got one (attached to a different monitor) and it works well.

FINAL ANSWER:

As long as the Displayport to DVI-D Adapter is in fact a Dual Link DVI and the cable as well (easy to tell cus it has all the pins, with no empty row in the center) it will work fine at 144hz.
