These things are a must for proper seedling germination also, for many species, not only cacti. Well, they are here in zone 4 anyhow, lol.

I just did my first kettle sour recently and used the two pack of these seeding pads duct taped to the outside of my kettle:

I used an inkbird to control them and with some insulation (couple blankets), they were able to hold my sour at 100 degrees F for the two days needed.

Others say don't wory about the temp but I wanted to have the option of adjusting the temps.
