If you are willing to go the route of Craigslist and such, you can put together a much, much better system.
So I live in an apartment, and can't do any major modifications. I've got a recessed area that's perfect for my TV, but my wife absolutely will not tolerate any wires running out of the recess.
What I want to shoot for is something with a sub, and preferably some satellites that connect to said sub I was thinking something like this:

So what's the right option? Is what I've got linked there decent?
Would surround over HDMI/ARC work? and I'm using Plex Home Theater which the only app I need surround to work on. The sound bar has two remote rear speakers which is why I'm trying to get 5.1 to work.

Is it the same quality as a receiver/5.1 system? No. But for ease of use it's great and it will be an improvement over the TV speakers.
