Because holding a warm, weighted thing is comforting. Not just a sheep either. There are lots of different animal options.
I bought a bean filled sheep off of Amazon that has a lavendar scent to it. You can microwave it to be warm and heavy. It's incredibly comforting.

It does suck that you guys are going through this so soon, but it's not the end of the world. You should make sure her teachers and school nurse know, as well.

He's my daughter's favourite thing but he's become very worn and we've almost lost him a few times. We'd really like to have a backup in case we actually do lose him – she's be so upset. I think he originally came from Debenhams in the UK. I've found a few online that are similar, but not identical. He's about 15 cm tall, and has a little bean bag inside that you put in the microwave to heat up.
