Ahh, I get it. What kind of cage do you have and what type of metal clips have you tried in the past?
I have a Martin's cage and curtain clips fit between the bars nicely. I just remove the loop and use the clip itself.
Could you use some [clips like this] (https://www.amazon.com/Yueton-Stainless-Curtain-Decoration-Blovess/dp/B01851VE5K/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_263_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EHEFNTA7AYPP48K2S5TT) to attach a new curtain? Unfortunately it can be very difficult to get replacement parts for RV's. Folks tend to improvise.

I really wanted to make a jig and I tried using my grandfather’s old sketchy router but I think I had dull bits or just used it incorrectly (highly possible) but it was a fiasco. My wife was happy, so I let it slide.
