Has anyone read Zucked lately? Author mentions reddit several times. This is exactly the kind of shit I'm talking about. This is the most dangerous shit- the stuff that seems nice and innocuous and then does the double whammy of providing false information and reinforcing a groupthink idea...

But for the parts that are true, she sure seems like a nice lady.

I recommend skipping the colors on the screen - go grayscale. Works pretty good for me, I'd definitely say I have felt a, although slight, relief in how much I'm "zucked" to my phone.

Here's a great read on this, the brain behind it is Tristan Harris. Amazing guy: he invented the concept of infinite scroll, now he works 100% with trying to get people less distracted. Love him.

It's hard to say what Trump has actually done, besides show up to rallies to spout insane drivel, but Cambridge Analytica very much ran a successful campaign to suppress the vote in key states to get people who were likely to vote for Hillary to stay home or vote third party instead.

You can read about the details in various in depth articles and even books on the subject.

The part specifically about how Cambridge Analytica, via Facebook, helped swing the election is at 1:18:40 if you want to get 5 minutes on it.
