Just buy this for 100th the price and get bored with that in 10 minutes instead.

The Atari Flashback Portable can play ROMs via SD card. Don't know why they just didn't add that feature the the main console.

Well, my first console was a Sears brand console that played Atari games. Was one of these:

Friend of mine had the Colecovision one. Actually, come to think of it, none of my group had an actual Atari. But we were poor :)

I was 18 or so before I got an NES (see above about being poor). Ended up with an NES and maybe 5 or 6 games. A knockoff of Burger Time was one of my favorites. That console ended up going to a friend's brothers when I went to college. Wish I still had it, but oh well.

Those lines are definitely trying to evoke the classic VCS/Atari 2600. Then again, they're on like the Atari Flashback 7 at this point. They pump out an Atari retro console like clockwork every Christmas now. I'd be surprised if they're doing another rehash of the 2600 games. There's plenty of stock of the older ones floating around. They normally don't advertise those heavily as they're more of an impulse buy and they're cheap.

Nintendo's very late to the retro console party. Everyone else has already done it. Their heyday was the around 2004-2008. There have already been numerous Atari, Coleco, Intellivision retro consoles and handhelds. Classic Arcade games even had their run with half a dozen variants of Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Frogger, and even 2600 "plug-n-play" joysticks.

And before those, all the Atari and Coleco and Intellivision and Arcade collections for Playstation, PS2, XBoxetc.

It's possible it's a retro console, but I doubt they'd go to the trouble of doing marketing for it. Everyone who wants one probably has 2-3 at this point. I think it's got to be something new.
