Thanks for preaching this detail! I feel like a lot of people probably miss it.
And one more: it might be overkill, but I also wash my gym bag after every class. I get home and throw everything in the wash: bag, mouthguard, belt, gi, flip-flops, and all.
I have found these cheap snorkel bags to be a good option for this strategy. http://www.amazon.com/Black-Snorkel-String-Shoulder-Strap/dp/B008NAAOJQ?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
You're going to run into a problem trying to do two very different things with one bag.
A bag tough enough to handle checked baggage abuse won't be 'boat ready' or airy enough for drying wet gear.
consider getting a wheeled duffle bag for checking, and a mesh backpack for boat use
(I chose examples at random, not necessarily recommending those particular bags)
Will your fins not fit in this bag? http://www.amazon.com/Beuchat-Spearfishing-Backpack-Insulated-Compartment/dp/B00UE4F1R4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453752113&sr=8-3&keywords=long+fin+bag
Get you a nice freediving backpack that you can also use for travel. The florida free-divers backpack is good for beach dives and boat rides but if your looking ford something to fly and travel with you can get the riffe backpack with fin clips on the back. If you’re looking for fins to fly with in your carry on I recommend the riffe backpack with clips so you can easily remove them and slide them into a place that fits. Not the easiest way to travel and youll def get a lot of looks but you gotta do whatcha gotta do. If your serious about freediving, fins are one of the most essential part of your gear, dont settle for short fins to make traveling easier.

I use these. I can fit:
-2.5mm wetsuit
-27lbs Lift, plate and wing style BC
-reg bag fits in there, I put mine at the bottom and it was fine.
-I but my comp in a DGX comp bag in the reg bag
-3mm? Neoprene shorts
-2 lights(check airlines battery policy)
-booties
-2 or 3 wrist gauges
-fins attach to the side
-mask
I think there might have been a couple other small things as well. I was able to carry this onto the plane easily. I had to take a couple things out at security, but they didn’t have a problem with it.
I’d highly recommend both of these products.
As for camera, I’m a rookie and use a Gopro, so I’m not sure about that.
