This is weird..

I went to a podiatrist for similar reasons -- car wreck caused tendons and ligament tears and I am trying to heal.

I was in a walking boot and they gave me a soft brace after.. all provided .. and I am bigger than you ....

They had to adjust the walking boot and add a piece in the front where the Velcro goes to help it be more comfortable.

This is the brace they put me in

It looks like shit, but trust me. Its worth it. I chipped my toe in school once and wore something like this for about a week and a half. It saved my life. I have bought one as an adult as well for a broken toe.

Honestly, I agree, this sounds like a minor metatarsal stress fracture. I've also had them where it only hurts occasionally, or when I step a certain way. Unfortunately, every single time you feel it hurt, you're stressing it again and delaying healing. Also I highly doubt your forefoot strike is the cause of this.

I know you really don't want to hear this, but the way to heal is to not do anything that re-stresses it for at least 2 weeks, and that includes running and walking. So keep running if you want, but the injury is there now, and it's while changing your shoes or gait might help with future injuries, it probably won't heal this one.

However, I am not a doctor, and nobody on this sub can diagnose you. If you actually want to know what's going on, go see one. They'll probably prescribe you one of those big ugly boots which work well to keep you walking around without any foot stress and tell you not to run, which sucks, but you'll at least heal.

I'm no doctor but I have messed my ankles up many of times and my saving grace has been the black walking boot. Could you speak with your doctor about getting one of those black walking boots for your foot once you can put pressure on it and not use crutches? If your doctor feels you're good to put pressure on it.

I've messed up my foot a lot and if I wear that I am able to walk around without crutches. It may not be the most attractive thing but if you have a longer dress it would cover it and you could dance in it. It would also be something you could wear on the honeymoon and go on excursions with (just wrap it in plastic bag before you get in the water or something like http://www.castcoverz.com/weatherproof-covers-orthotic-walking-boot/ or http://www.amazon.com/My-Recovers-Orthopedic-Waterproof-Accessories/dp/B00LLLG9YI )

Best wishes to you! Hopefully you'll be feeling good in no time!
