This is a recipe from the Salt and Straw ice cream cookbook.

It came from the book The Vegan Scoop by Wheeler del Torro, of Wheeler's Frozen Desserts fame. If you can preview the recipes in it, you basically know how to make it. I would recommend getting the book, however, since it really lives up to the "tastes better than the 'real' thing" claim.

The only way to have eggs is like this.

There's a lot of neat recipes in this book too.

I love Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer.

As for cookbooks, this cookbook.

If you have an ice cream maker/plenty of free time, I love this for vegan ice cream

I can post the recipe later if you want, but it's from here. Basically peanut butter + fluff + sugar + milk + cream + eggs. Making my own ice cream has been eye-opening as to why it is so delicious and so bad for my health :)

Two books have vastly expanded my knowledge, understanding, and creativity in my approach to homemade ice cream making. I absolutely swear by Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book and Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream Book. I see a lot of chatter about Jeni's of Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream ice cream recipes for mouth feel, but her approach uses corn syrup and corn starch. That's the kind of ingredient I am trying to avoid by making my own ice creams, so I can't attest to her recipes.

Ben & Jerry have three cream base recipes. Humprhy Slocombe should really be owned by anyone who makes ice cream. It's kind of like a Joy of Cooking, but for ice cream. and it is a fun read. Whenever I try out a new flavor, I start with these two books and go from there.

I highly recommend the Keto cookbooks from Carry Brown! Fantastic ice cream! And other great things as well.

Good morning!

I tend to eat lots of different meals. I like to cook, so I'm always looking for something new.

I just got this book, called Dairy Free Ice Cream, and I'm itching to make some recipes. While it's not a perfect keto cookbook, I was flipping through it last weekend in a bookstore and saw all the recipes were made with coconut milk, alternative sweeteners, and almond and coconut flours. I knew I'd be able to tweak almost all of the recipes to fit my macros (cream instead of coconut milk for fewer carbs, Swerve instead of dates for sweetener). And I love nothing more than a mug of ice cream on Saturday and Sunday nights in the summer.

I'm also planning to make fried chicken, using pork rind crumbs as the breading. I've got a package of drumsticks in the fridge calling my name. Plus I just read sketchymurr's comment about the cavemanketo cordon bleu and my heart skipped a beat...
