Without knowing what the flags is, I have no opinion. The cleaning sounds like they want you to do all of it. So just stop cleaning up other people's messes.

Would they be agreeable to a kennel like this? Dog Kennel
If not, maybe you can use it in your room as a bedside table.

Oh man, this is how lame I am - I'd get one of those superfancy dog crates that's like, a fancy wooden side table. Like this! So SkyMall, I know - IDK why that's like the epitome of decadent impulse-spending for me but it totally is.

Then I would also buy myself a cute dress and immediately start browsing leather goods. Aaaaaaaand then back to dog stuff, because having a small dog now means I totally get to dress him up in stupid amazing outfits, right?

Sell your dresser, and with that money, invest in some storage drawers you can roll under the bed.

Could you replace your nightstand with something like this bedside caddy?

Alternatively, could you turn the top of one of your dog crates into your nightstand? Maybe all you need is to put a solid wood piece on top? (Or the fancy version, if you don't mind the $150.)

I got mine off Amazon and it’s been perfect. Sturdy and fits a standard pet bed. I got the 24” for a 10 lb dog.
