Large tall pieces of furniture like a wardrobe, display case, drawers and even tvs always tell you to bolt it to the wall or use tip over safety straps (https://www.amazon.com/Hangman-Anti-Tip-Kit-Furniture-Prevention/dp/B000VW7WBC).

Get some good shelving racks. The kind rated for a couple thousand pounds. Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Sandusky-5-Shelf-Shelving-4000lbs-Capacity/dp/B019F7P2QU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487619803&sr=8-1&keywords=Edsal%2Bshelving&th=1

AVOID those wire shelves that use the shitty little black plastic pieces to attach the shelves it to the poles. The plastic breaks and the shelves fall, and they're just terrible. I'm talking about this kind:

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-5-Shelf-Shelving-Unit-Black/dp/B018YLFJX4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1487619726&sr=8-5&keywords=Wire+shelf+rack

/u/thelastquesadilla/ suggested a workbench too, I second that. Very useful. You may also take the opportunity to get a decent crash cart set up if you don't already have one.

Also, peg board. Why? wrap your wires up and hang them on it. No more boxes full of tangled power cords, and network cables.

I installed hangman anti-tip kits (https://www.amazon.com/Hangman-Anti-Tip-Kit-Furniture-Prevention/dp/B000VW7WBC) in the three bookcases near my bed (I live in earthquake country).

These work great. Literally had a dresser tip over once with someone hanging on it and it still didn't fall over.

After several days of trial and error, I found a setting that I think would be the best.

<Precautions>

1. When standing in the middle of the play area,
the key chain tension should not be felt for one or two small steps. because tension can create discomfort.
Most Oculus home games do not go far in the middle of the play area.

2. The headset cable on the ceiling must be at a level that is out of reach.
If not, there is a problem when you play a game with frequent hands-up movements, such as "The Climb".

(Each time use one keychain, the cable will descend 7 cm down the floor.)

3. The wires starts from the headset should not go below the neck.
Otherwise, each time you turn your head suddenly, the line will hit the headset.

4. When storing the headset, in this case, it is better to mount it on a wall or ceiling.

5. There are key pulling products(retractable keychain) and pen pulling products(retractable pen belt) and Dog leash product. I did not try the key pulling product, but When I guess, the key pulling product's pulling force seems to be strong. I'm not quite sure about it. But If the tension is strong, it is inconvenient. So I recommended a pen pulling product in the video.

6. In my case, the height of the ceiling was not high enough. So I felt inconvenience if the cable did not close to the ceiling as much as possible.
The height of the ceiling differs from person to person. And the location of the computer case is different. So there may be better optimal settings depending on your situation.

Extra Hardware

What I used in the video are products that does not sell in the U.S. I looked for something similar to replace.

Its so you don't have to put screws through the furniture. They work by providing an anchor to counteract any force pulling from the other side. A child climbing a bookshelf is going to be pulling it away from the wall. However, the outward force exerted at the top isn't huge so a well secured velcro strap is strong enough to prevent the tipover. Just make sure it hits a stud on the wall side and you're good to go.

They also make other kinds if you want something more heavy duty.

I bought this shallow mount rack to house everything, these rack shelves, and this hardware pack. It comes with a lock and two keys - very convenient for when everyone's gone from the house or when we throw a rager.

Get some modular metal grills and assemble them firmly using plastic connectors in a U-shape around the speakers. Speaker and its soft grill becomes invisible to cats, everyone's happy, no inhumane treatment of animals (no spraying, no electroshocking, or sticky tape... no horror of horrors - declawing!) For the top of the floorstanding speakers, place a silicone mat like the ones used for feeding dogs, just search for a size that fits. Negotiate an inspired solution that works perfectly for everyone. Happy cat means happy family.

Wall hook, like for a coat. Holds about 6-7 belts.

I looked for it, but couldn't find it.

It is NOT this hook, but that's what the shape tends towards.

It's recommended against:

  • Sunlight could potentially strike it and ruin the screens
  • Dust naturally accumulates on the lenses
  • Something could spill inside and ruin the electronics
  • Something could fall inside and scratch the lenses

None of those necessarily will happen, but minimizing potential problems is a good strategy for expensive products.

Best to use something like this (comes in a 2-pack, so you space them wide enough to rest the HMD on) and hang it with the straps hanging down.

I use Gladiator Cabinents like this one.

If you are going to paint cabinets like this especially since i believe that is a laminate get a kit. You will need to buy a high quality brush (dont just buy the cheapest one) but otherwise everything you need is in there.

If you want to do something like that, you might as well just use cardboard boxes, to be honest. It'll be as durable, and cheaper. Those cubes always struck me as a bit of a ripoff because they're just cardboard and clips of some kind (you could use tape or binder clips for the same effect)

I've thought about constructing something out of those wire cubes before (this kind of thing ), because you can put them together in different configurations. The only problem is they cost more, and you'll probably have to put something on the mesh "floor" because the openings will be big enough that their paws will go through them.

Looking for some advice about using furniture/appliance anchor like this:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VW7WBC

For example, using this kit, I can find a stud and attach one of the anchors to it. However, I'm afraid depending on what I want to anchor, like a refrigerator, I may not be able to find a place to drill the other anchor into it.

In this situation, would it be wise to use an adhesive like VHB tape or maybe something like PR100 super glue to attach the other anchor? I need this anchor to hold up in an earthquake situation. Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide feedback!

No one is denying that you've owned an amplifier that had 5 kg of heatsinks in it. There are questions about why that design was chosen when bathroom radios, light bulbs and other appliances can dump as much or more heat using no heatsinks, and whether that design is representative of commercial audio amplifiers sold today.

If we go toward the chassis as heatsink model, we're no further ahead in addressing OP's question since more of the system weight would be determined by parts that are not the chassis. A 2U aluminum chassis weighs approximately 3 pounds (1.4 kg):

https://www.amazon.com/BUD-Industries-CH-14404-Aluminum-Chassis/dp/B005T5AQZ0/

In that chassis, we can stick a 50 to 500 g power supply for a class D amplifier, or one or more 500 to 5000 g transformers for a class A and/or B amplifier depending on the desired non-clipping output power. As in the steel chassis scenario, the total weight of the unit would still be dominated by the weight of the power transformer, and a 1 kg power transformer would still be able to power an efficient class B amplifier circuit, or a less efficient class A amplifier circuit. The same ambiguity arises when you consider a 2 kg power transformer.

To OP's question, you wouldn't be able to distinguish between class A and class AB and class B amplifiers through overall weight alone, nor would heatsinks help you. There's no practical scenario in which the differences between heatsink weights of modern domestic class A and B amplifiers (less than 1 kg, which would be over 20 copies of the 5 cm x 10 cm x 20 cm aluminum heatsink linked in my other post) is not overwhelmed by the range of power transformer weights (1-5 kg). Of consequence, weight differences due to different heatsinks would not be distinguishable from differences due to power requirements, chassis design and aesthetics, etc., unrelated to the differences between class A and/or B amplification.

And, you have options in what you buy.

u/sociallyawesomehuman · 1 pointr/magicTCG

I bought one of these or similar (whatever works for the space you’re putting them in): Edsal UR245AZ-BLK Steel Storage Rack, 5 Adjustable Shelves, 4000 lb. Capacity, 72" Height x 48" Width x 24" Depth, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019F7P2QU/
And then I bought 12 of these, turned them on their side, and stuck 900ct boxes in them: https://www.bcwsupplies.com/card-house-storage-box

Each 900ct box holds roughly 1050 cards, sleeved 4 to a penny sleeve, separated with cards folded as dividers. Basically you can hold a playset per box (or a 1x set of a block per box) or rearrange to however you like. I have the boxes labeled with post-it notes that I trimmed to size, but have a more ambitious labeling project in the works (though I have way too much work to do in sorting first... ugh).

I did a similar thing but I used the rubber coated hooks you would use to hang a bicycle up in a garage. like this but more of a L shape instead of a ? shape.

Edit: Turns out they are called Ladder Hooks
